RCN launches public petition in support of struck-off nurse

The Royal College of Nursing has today launched a public petition in support of the nurse who was struck off after exposing poor patient care on BBC Panorama.

RCN member, Margaret Haywood was removed from the register of nurses by a Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) panel yesterday afternoon for taking part in a television programme which highlighted instances of poor patient care.

The RCN has been providing legal representation for Margaret Haywood from the outset and is very surprised at the severity of the punishment dealt out by the NMC panel. Our legal team are working with Margaret to explore the various legal options available to her in light of yesterday's judgment.

Messages of support for Margaret have been flooding in since the NMC announced its decision yesterday afternoon. We encourage fellow nurses and members of the public to show their support for Margaret in one of the following ways:
